Nubia launched the Red Magic 5G in China today & it is the latest gaming phone under the Red Magic brand which comes with some mind-blowing features like a 144Hz OLED screen, an internal fan to keep the phone cool, top of the line Snapdragon 865 5G SOC, LPDDR5 RAM, liquid cooling etc. All this comes at a starting price of 3,799 Yuan that translates to around $541 or Rs 40,000.
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The design is one of the things that make gaming phones different from normal smartphones. The Red Magic 5G is no different as it comes with a gaming-centric design. The display on the front has no notch or a punch-hole & there are noticeable top & bottom bezels. The phone has stereo speakers, so the primary speaker is on the bottom while the secondary speaker is a front-firing one placed underneath the earpiece.
On the right side, there are gaming triggers, a vent for the intake or air, power button, and the volume rockers. The left side has an alert slider, pogo pins, and another vent that serves as the outlet for the air. This inlet and outlet happen with the help of an internal fan that spins at speeds up to 15,000 RPM. That’s not it! For even better cooling, there is liquid cooling.
The phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack placed on top & the USB Type-C port is there on the bottom.
Coming to the specifications, the Nubia Red Magic 5G comes with a 6.65-inch AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate & 240Hz touch-sampling rate. This makes the Red Magic 5G the first smartphone to launch with a 144Hz refresh rate which is insane. It is a Full-HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Since it is a gaming phone of 2020, there is no surprise that Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SOC is powering it. This SOC comes with an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.84GHz and Adreno 650 GPU. There is 8/12/16GB LPDDR5 RAM & 128/256GB UFS 3.0 storage.
Talking about the cameras, there is a triple camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 64 Megapixel camera with the Sony IMX686 sensor, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter, and a third 2 Megapixel Macro camera. On the front, there is an 8 Megapixel selfie shooter.
The Nubia Red Magic 5G has a 4,500mAh battery with 55W air-cooled turbo fast charging. RedMagic OS based on Android 10 runs out of the box. As expected, there are a lot of features for a better gaming experience.

The Nubia Red Magic 5G comes in three colours – Black, Red, and Neon. The pricing is as follows –

The phone is up for pre-order in China & will go on sale starting March 19th.
