Nokia launched a new budget 5G phone in the Indian market today, the G42 5G. What’s interesting is that this time, the Nokia G42 5G seems like a good value-for-money device, unlike the previous smartphone launches from the brand. The phone is priced at ₹12,599, which will compete with the likes of Realme Narzo 60X 5G, Redmi 12 5G, and more.

The design is nothing special. Nokia G42 5G has a waterdrop notch design on the front and a big bottom bezel. The fingerprint sensor is on the side and doubles as the power button. There is a triple-camera setup on the back. The display has Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The frame and the back panel are plastic.

The phone has a Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a speaker grill on the bottom.

As for the specifications, the Nokia G42 5G has a 6.56-inch 720p IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate and 560 nits peak brightness. There is a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. The triple camera setup on the rear includes a 50MP primary sensor and two 2MP sensors. The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor.

The chip is the Snapdragon 480 Plus. This is an 8nm-based SOC with an Adreno 619 GPU and a Kryo 460 CPU clocked at up to 2.2GHz. It is worth mentioning that even though this is a 400 series SOC, it is comparable to chipsets such as the Snapdragon 720G and 732G. The phone has 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box, and Nokia promises two Android OS updates.

The introductory price is ₹12,599, and the sale starts on September 15 on Amazon.
