HMD Global announces February 24 event at the MWC, Nokia 9 coming?

Like the past couple of years, Nokia is all set to show something at the MWC Barcelona & we are expecting a couple of new phones. If you remember, in December last year, the official promo video of the Nokia 9 PureView leaked that revealed some key highlights like the design, the processor, camera setup etc. It looks like the Nokia 9 is finally launching on the 24th of February at the Mobile World Congress.

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer, HMD Global, announced on Twitter today that an event will take place on February 24 where the company is set to showcase some new Nokia products. Apart from the Nokia 9 PureView, there are also rumors that Nokia 6.2 will launch at the event, which is the successor to the last year’s Nokia 6.1. The phone might feature the hole-punch screen, but that’s just a rumor as of now.

So, it is now ‘almost’ confirmed that Nokia 9 is launching at the MWC and it is most probably going to become the first phone with a Penta lens setup on the back (Obviously if no other phone launches before it with the same stuff). The phone has a premium design but not the latest specifications. There is still the 18:9 display with a big top and bottom bezel & the older Snapdragon 845 processor. So basically, this is a phone similar to the last year’s Nokia 8 Sirocco that also had a premium design but older processor.

It’ll be interesting to see at what price Nokia is going to launch it since last year’s Nokia 8 Sirocco definitely didn’t have the best price tag.
