Nokia has launched the successors to almost all of its 2017’s phones. From Nokia 2.1 to Nokia 7.1, we have a lot of phones from the company this year. Still, there are more to come, and today, the Nokia 8.1 visited Geekbench.
The Nokia 8 of 2017 was a flagship from the company but failed to impress the customers due to the poor camera performance and other issues. The pricing was also something to blame for not so good sales. Then came the Nokia 8 Sirocco with a premium glass design and some upgrades. Still, the phone was overpriced, and as a result, it didn’t sell that well.
This year, we have seen a change in HMD Global’s pricing as the company has priced the Nokia phones pretty well considering the specifications they offer. The Nokia 8.1 that showed up on Geekbench today is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor.
Now, this is weird since the predecessor had a better chipset, i.e., the Snapdragon 835. Also, the company just announced the Nokia 7.1 Plus in China with Snapdragon 710 at a great price so, it seems unlikely that the successor of Nokia 8 will launch with the same processor. So, either the Geekbench listing is fake, or the company is going to launch the Nokia 8.1 with Snapdragon 710 processor. Other specs revealed by Geekbench include Android 9 Pie and 4GB RAM (for the Base model).
We are expecting the launch to take place before the end of 2018.
