In March this year, Nokia 5.3 was unveiled alongside the Nokia 8.3 5G. The phone offered the Snapdragon 665 chipset, a 720p LCD, Quad cameras on the rear & a 4,000mAh battery for a price of €189. Well, today, the Nokia 5.4 went official & for the same starting price as that of 5.3, the phone offers an upgraded design that includes a hole-punch cutout instead of a notch, an upgraded camera setup, Snapdragon 662 & a 4,000mAh battery.

Nokia 5.4

Design-wise, the phone is quite similar to the Nokia 5.3, at least from the rear. There is a circular camera setup that includes the Quad cameras in it, but while the Nokia 5.3 had the LED flash inside the camera module, it is placed outside of it in case of the 5.4. The fingerprint scanner’s placement remains unchanged. Just like the Nokia 5.3, the 5.4 has a Google Assistant button on the left side. The back panel has a similar textured finish that provided a better grip as well as reduces the fingerprints.

As mentioned above, the biggest design change is on the front where there is now a hole-punch cutout on the top left corner for the selfie camera. The display on the Nokia 5.4 is a 6.39-inch 720p LCD & Snapdragon 662 SOC is powering it. Weirdly, the Nokia 5.3 had Snapdragon 665, but the company decided to go for a less powerful SOC for the successor. There is 4GB or 6GB RAM paired with 64GB or 128GB storage that is expandable as well.

Nokia 5.4

Speaking of the cameras, Nokia 5.4 has a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 48 Megapixel shooter paired with a 5 Megapixel ultrawide, a 2 Megapixel macro & a 2 Megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 16 Megapixel camera for selfies. Nokia also mentions ZEISS optics on its official product page, but there is no ZEISS branding on the camera module itself. That’s interesting.

There is a 4,000mAh battery underneath & just like Nokia 5.3, there is no fast charging support for the Nokia 5.4. It comes with a standard 10W charger in the box. Some audio features include OZO Audio, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive etc. Finally, Android 11 runs out of the box & it is an Android One device which means it will get 2 major Android updates & continue receiving monthly security patches for 3 years.

Nokia 5.4 comes in two colors named Polar Night & Dusk. The phone is coming to the markets later this month & as mentioned in the title, it starts at €189.
