Motorola to launch a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3-powered phone soon

Could this be the Motorola Edge 50?

Motorola is all set to launch the Edge 50 series, and we already know some details of the Edge 50 Fusion & the Edge 50 Pro. There is a third phone under the Edge 50 series that the brand has officially started teasing and while the name is not yet confirmed, it could be the Motorola Edge 50, the successor to the Edge 40. The Motorola Edge 40 was launched last year with a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset, a curved 144Hz OLED display, an IP68 rating, wireless charging, and more.

Motorola Edge 50 Teaser

The official teaser from the brand reveals that this upcoming phone is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. This chip is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and features an octa-core CPU with a prime core clocked at 2.63GHz, three performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, the 7 Gen 3 brings a 15% better CPU & 50% better GPU performance. The chip is 20% more efficient than the 7 Gen 1.

Compared to the Edge 40’s Dimensity 8020 (which was a rebranded Dimensity 1100), the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is an upgrade.

The official teaser also reveals that the phone has wireless charging, similar to the Motorola Edge 40. Finally, the teaser hints at, what looks like, a telephoto lens on the phone.

If this phone launches as the Motorola Edge 50 in the Indian market, then the pricing should be around ₹30,000. The launch date is not yet announced, but as per the leaks, Motorola is launching the flagship Edge 50 Pro in India on April 4, so we can expect the other Edge 50 series phones to launch in India on the same day.
