We already know that Motorola is not launching just one clamshell foldable this year but two. The phones are also named differently this year – Motorola Razr 40 & Motorola Razr 40 Ultra. Thanks to the official and unofficial renders, we also know what both phones look like. The Razr 40 Ultra specifications have now leaked online, shared by XDA-Developers.
The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is surprising since the same SOC powered the last year’s Motorola Razr. The foldable display has a 2640×1080 pixels resolution, whereas the cover display has a 1056×1066 pixels resolution. The foldable display is an HDR AMOLED panel with a 120Hz (or 144Hz) refresh rate.
The dual camera setup on the outside includes a 12MP Sony IMX563 sensor for the primary camera and a 13MP SK Hynix Hi1336 sensor for the ultrawide camera. The selfie shooter has a 32MP OmniVision OV32B40 sensor. For comparison, the Razr 2022 had a 50MP sensor for the primary camera.
Finally, the phone will launch in at least three color options – Blue, Black, and Barberry.
The main highlight of this phone is the cover display since it is pretty large this year, around 3.5 inches. As we recently go to know, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is also coming with a large cover display of around 3.4 inches. So, it would be interesting to compare two of this year’s most hyped clamshell foldables.
