Motorola One Action official with ultra-wide Action Cam

A few months back, Motorola launched its first Android One phone for 2019, the Motorola One Vision. It was also the first phone featuring a 48MP camera & a 21:9 display. Today, the Motorola One Action went official with a similar design but with main highlights like a triple camera setup, an ultra-wide Action Cam, a hole-punch display & more. The phone is priced at €260 & will be available in Europe, Brazil & Mexico from August 16.

There is only one noticeable change in the design when you compare the Action & the Vision side by side. The Motorola One Action has triple cameras on the rear. The Android One branding shows that it is an Android One device running stock Android out of the box. Also, it will get two major Android updates.

The display remains unchanged, i.e., a 21:9 6.3-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution & a hole-punch for the single front camera. The SOC is also the same, i.e., the Exynos 9609. There is 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage (Expandable).

The Motorola One Action is all about the cameras, specifically that ultra-wide camera on the rear. There is a 16MP ultra-wide-angle “Action Cam” with 117-degree FOV & support for 1080p 60fps video recording. It features EIS & the Quad Pixel technology as well that combines four individual pixels into one, resulting in a more detailed and sharper image, especially in low light.

Thanks to the Wider FOV, you can shoot videos in landscape mode even when holding the phone vertically.

Now, to capture photos, you have the primary 12MP f/1.8 camera that supports 4K 30fps video recording. It is worth mentioning that the 16MP ultra-wide cannot take regular photos. It is only for the wide-angle video recording. That’s weird.

There is a third 5MP depth sensor for better Portrait Shots. There are also some AI features like portrait lighting, shot optimisation and auto smile capture. The front camera is a 12MP shooter with an f/2.0 aperture lens.

Under the hood, the Motorola One Action has a 3,500mAh battery & while the company mentions Rapid Charging on the official site, you get a 10W charger in the box. There is a USB Type-C port & the phone doesn’t miss out on the headphone jack. For better Audio Output, there is Dolby Audio.

The Motorola One Action comes in two colors – Denim Blue & Pearl White. As mentioned in the beginning, the price is €260 & it is going to be made available in Europe, Brazil & Mexico from August 16. The launch in other markets will follow.
