Motorola Moto E5 Plus with Snapdragon 430 launched in India for Rs 11,999

A month back, Motorola launched its 2018’s G series phones in India that included the Moto G6 and the G6 Play. Today, the company launched the Moto E5 Plus in India and just like the G6 and G6 Play, the pricing is pretty high considering the specifications of the device. It looks like Motorola is following Samsung’s footsteps by launching overpriced smartphones in the budget price segment. It seems that the company wants to sell its budget phones on the basis of the premium design and software only.

Talking about the pricing, the Moto E5 Plus is priced at Rs 11,999 in India for the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant. Yes, this is the same pricing at which you get the Moto G6 Play. Also, the chipset that powers the phone is the Snapdragon 430. Want to know a fun fact? You can get the 10.or E from Amazon with Snapdragon 430 for just Rs 6,699 (3GB variant). This means that you are paying Rs 5,300 extra for a big battery & ‘2018-ish’ design. Another fun fact is that the Snapdragon 430 was announced in 2015 and we got phones with this processor in 2016. Well done, Motorola!

Talking about other specifications, the Moto E5 Plus has a 6-inch IPS LCD with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 1440×720 pixels, i.e., HD+. The octa-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor powers the device that comes with the Adreno 505 GPU. There is 3GB RAM, and 32GB ROM and the storage is expandable up to 128GB. The phone has a triple card slot that is a good thing.

Don’t confuse yourself with the camera setup on the rear as there is just a single 12MP camera with Laser Autofocus, Phase Detection AF, f/2.0 aperture and dual LED flash. The design is similar to the G6 series phones. On the front, there is a 5MP camera for selfies. The rear camera is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. Just like most of the Motorola phones, the speaker is placed within the ear-piece on the front.

For the very first time, we are getting the Moto Experiences in the Moto E series phones. So, the Moto E5 Plus comes with Moto Actions as well as the Moto Display, both of which are very useful features.

The USP of the Moto E5 Plus is a huge 5,000mAh battery under the hood that supports 10W Rapid Charging. This is something we miss on the budget phones with big batteries. Thanks to the low-resolution display and mostly stock Android, the battery is more than enough to last two days.

The Moto E5 Plus comes in two colors – Fine Gold and Black. There is only one variant of the device that comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. As mentioned in the beginning, it is priced at Rs 11,999. The phone will be available from midnight on Amazon India and Moto Hubs.

Well, if you are looking for a budget phone to buy under Rs 12K in India, then this phone is surely not the one that we will suggest you go for. Only if you are a Motorola Fan and want only a Motorola device with a big battery and premium design, then you should go for this phone. Otherwise, this is just another overpriced phone from the company.
