Last month, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro was launched in the European market with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC for €899.99. The phone is now official in the US as the Motorola Edge+ (2023). This is not the first time Motorola has launched a phone with a different name in the US. Last year, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro was launched in the US as the Motorola Edge+ (2022). The Edge+ (2023) and Edge 40 Pro refer to the same phone, known as the Motorola X40 Pro in the Chinese market.

Apart from the name, there is little difference between the Edge+ and the Edge 40 Pro. The phone has a 6.67-inch pOLED display with HDR10+ support, 10-bit color depth, 165Hz refresh rate, and 1300 nits peak brightness. It is a curved display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC powers the phone and has LPDDR5X RAM. The battery is bigger on the Edge+, at 5,100mAh (vs 4,600mAh). The charging speed is slower at 68W, compared to 125W in Edge 40 Pro. The phone supports 15W wireless charging & 5W reverse wireless charging.

Other features include IP68 certification, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus back, USB 3.2 compatible Type-C port, Dolby Vision, and Android 13.
