Motorola Edge+ launched in India at Rs 74,999

Last month Motorola launched its flagship for this year, the Motorola Edge+. The phone offered impressive specs on paper like Snapdragon 865 SOC, a 90Hz OLED Waterfall screen, 108MP camera, a 5,000mAh battery and more. Today, the phone launched in India at a price of Rs 74,999.

At this price in India, it competes with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S20 & S20+. Well, we were expecting it to be a competitor of OnePlus 8 Pro, but as it turns out, the OnePlus 8 Pro is much cheaper than the Edge+ in India since it starts at Rs 54,999 (59,999 for the 12GB RAM variant).

The Edge+ comes with a beautiful design that includes a Waterfall Display on the front with a punch-hole cutout, & glass back. The USB Type-C Port, SIM card tray, and speaker grill are placed on the bottom. While almost every brand has ditched the headphone jack, the Motorola Edge+ has a headphone jack, and it is placed on top.

There is a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ OLED screen on the front with 90Hz refresh rate & the phone has 93% screen-to-body ratio. This is the first time Motorola went for a high-refresh-rate display. The fingerprint scanner is placed under the display, and it is an Optical Fingerprint reader.

There are triple cameras on the rear, and Motorola Edge+ is the first Motorola device to feature a 108 Megapixel camera. This 108 Megapixel camera comes with OIS and Quad Pixel Technology that combines four pixels into one, resulting in a 27 Megapixel shot. There is a secondary 16 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera which can also take macro shots. Finally, the phone has an 8 Megapixel 3X Telephoto lens with OIS.

On the front, there is a 25 Megapixel camera for selfies.

The phone packs a huge 5,000mAh battery underneath and comes with 18W fast charging support. There is also 15W Wireless Charging support & 5W Reverse Wireless Charging. Android 10 runs out of the box.

At a price of Rs 74,999, there is no IP rating which is a huge con since even the OnePlus 8 Pro that is Rs 20,000 cheaper than this phone has IP68 certification. Moreover, Motorola is not known for its premium phones in India, so at Rs 74,999, the Edge+ seems like a tough sell. The phone is listed on Flipkart and is up for Pre-Order.
