The Motorola Edge 40 Pro was launched in April last year, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC and a pretty impressive spec sheet. The phone was launched in Europe at €899 and in the US at $799. The brand is now preparing to launch the successor, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro.
While the brand is yet to announce the launch date, the official images and specifications of the phone are now out, thanks to Android Headlines.
Design-wise, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro looks identical to the Edge 40 Pro from the front. The phone has a curved display, something more and more brands are doing away with this year in their flagship phones. The design change this year is on the rear, where the phone has a different camera module design than the predecessor.
The Motorola Edge 50 Pro has three rear cameras placed in the top left corner. There is no separate camera island this year, but the area around the cameras is slightly raised as compared to the rest of the back panel. The phone has three colors – Black, Silver-ish, and Purple. The Black and Purple color options have a vegan leather finish on the rear.
As for the specifications, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro has a 6.7-inch 165Hz OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, a 4,500mAh battery, 125W fast wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.
For comparison, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro featured a slightly larger 4,600mAH battery and the same 125W fast wired charging, but a slower 15W wireless charging. As for the cameras, the primary camera on the rear has a 50MP sensor and an f/1.4 lens. The telephoto camera has a 73mm lens, which means around 3x optical zoom. The third camera is for ultrawide photos.
In China, the phone is launching as the Motorola X50 Ultra, and the brand has already teased the launch with a video that suggests some impressive AI features in the device.
