Motorola Edge 50 Pro to feature Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in India

Edge 40 Pro had Snapdragon 8 Gen 2!

Remember the Motorola Edge 40 Pro? Yes, we are talking about the flagship Motorola phone of last year with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a 165Hz pOLED display, 125W wired charging, and more. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is set to launch in India on April 3, and it’s not a flagship phone. Instead, the Edge 50 Pro for the Indian market is a premium mid-range smartphone, and this was confirmed via the Flipkart page of the device.

The Edge 50 Pro is launching in India with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Now, this is not a bad chipset, but when we compare it with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 inside the Edge 40 Pro, it is undoubtedly a downgrade in performance. But there is a reason for this downgrade. The rest of the specifications are pretty top-notch for a mid-range smartphone.

The phone has a 6.7-inch 1.5K 144Hz pOLED display with HDR10+ support, and 2000 nits peak brightness. There is an under-display fingerprint sensor. There are three color options, with Black & Purple having a Silicon Vegan Leather material on the rear.

The cameras are pretty impressive too, at least on paper. Motorola Edge 50 Pro has three cameras on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor with a large f/1.4 aperture and OIS. The ultrawide camera uses a 13MP sensor, and the same sensor is used for macro photos.

Finally, the phone has a 12MP telephoto camera with up to 30x Hybrid zoom. Finally, the phone uses a 50MP sensor for the selfie camera with an f/1.9 aperture lens. The camera features include AI Adaptive Stabilization, Auto Focus Tracking, AI Photo Enhancement Engine, Tilt Mode, and more.

Finally, the Edge 50 Pro runs on Motorola’s HelloUI, based on Android 14. The phone will get three Android OS updates. The HelloUI skin comes with custom fonts, custom icons, custom colors, gestures, Moto Unplugged, Moto Secure, Moto Connect, Family Space, and some other features.

Well, apart from the chipset, the other specifications of this phone are definitely high-end. As per some sources, the phone will launch in a single configuration – 12GB + 512GB. The price will be ₹39,999. This is not the phone with the best price-to-performance ratio, but when we talk about the other specifications, this is not a bad mid-range phone at all. Let’s see how the Indian audience reacts to this device because, as we know, India is a very price -sensitive market where users want the best value for money.
