The Motorola Edge 40 Neo was a promising mid-range smartphone from the brand with a curved 144Hz pOLED display, Dimensity 7030 chipset, IP68 certification, a 5,000mAh battery, 68W charging, and more. The phone was launched in Europe for €399 and in India for ₹20,999. The brand is now preparing to launch its successor soon, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo. The specifications and the design of the phone have now surfaced online, thanks to 91Mobiles.
The Motorola Edge 50 Neo has a design similar to the Edge 50 Pro, but the phone lacks a curved display on the front. This time, Motorola went for a flat display with minimal bezels. The camera module on the back has a triple camera setup with an LED flash. The frame is flat, there is a USB Type-C port on the bottom, and there are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. The phone is IP68-certified like its predecessor.
Specifications-wise, we are looking at a 6.4-inch pOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint scanner sits under the display. The chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300, and the phone has a 4,310mAh battery. So, the battery size has gone down from last year, which could turn out to be a big downgrade. On the camera front, we are looking at a 50MP primary shooter with OIS, a 13MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto camera. The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor. For comparison, the Edge 40 Neo featured a dual camera setup last year.
The phone is 8.1mm thick and weighs 171g. Finally, Android 14 runs out of the box.
Looking at these specifications, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo should launch under ₹25,000 in the Indian market. It would be interesting to see how Motorola prices this device because we already have the Edge 50 Fusion at around ₹22,999 in India. The Edge 50 Fusion has a curved display, a bigger 5,000mAh battery, and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. So, it is quite likely that the Edge 50 Neo will launch at a lower price than the Edge 50 Fusion.
