In our last article, we discussed the upcoming Motorola Edge 50 and its design, as the official renders have already leaked. Today, Motorola officially confirmed the name of the device and also revealed almost all the details on Flipkart.
This phone is going to sit between the Edge 50 Fusion and the Edge 50 Pro in terms of specifications and pricing.
Design-wise, as we already know, the Edge 50 is the slimmest phone in its segment, with a curved display and the MIL-801 rating. The phone is resistant to shocks and vibrations and can withstand extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and sand. The phone is also IP68-certified, like other phones under the Edge 50 series.
There is a curved display on the front, a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The color options are Jungle Green, Pantone Peach Fuzz, and Koala Grey. The Green and Peach colors feature a vegan leather finish on the back, whereas the Grey option has a vegan suede finish.
In terms of specifications, the Motorola Edge 50 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition SOC. The “Accelerated Edition” has a CPU that goes up to 2.5GHz, versus 2.4GHz in the standard version. For better cooling, the phone has a vapor chamber. There is a big 5,000mAh battery with support for 68W fast wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
On the front, the Edge 50 has a 6.67-inch pOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 1900 nits HDR peak brightness, and 10-bit color depth.
There are three cameras on the rear. The primary camera uses a 50MP Sony LYT-700C sensor, which we saw on the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion. This is a 1/1.56-type sensor, and the phone has OIS support. There is a 13MP sensor for the ultrawide camera, which can shoot macro photos. The third camera has a 10MP sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera.
Finally, the phone runs on Android 14 out of the box and will get three Android updates.
The launch is on August 1.
