The price starts at ₹20,999!

Release Date
September 21, 2023
Starting Price
₹20,999

A week after the Europe launch, the Motorola Edge 40 Neo was launched in the Indian market today. In the Indian market, the introductory price starts at ₹20,999, making it one of the best value-for-money phones in this price segment. What’s more interesting is that the Moto G84 was launched in India earlier this month at ₹19,999, and after the Edge 40 Neo’s launch, it makes zero sense to go for the G84.

Motorola Edge 40 Neo

Motorola Edge 40 Neo comes in three colors – Black Beauty, Caneel Bay, and Soothing Sea. These are all Pantone color names, hence the Pantone branding on the rear. The design is identical to the Motorola Edge 40, available at ₹29,999 in India. There is a dual camera setup on the back, a curved display on the front, an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and a premium vegan leather finish on the rear.

The phone even has IP68 certification, like the Edge 40. This is a rare feature in this price segment.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7030 5G chip is a 6nm process-based SOC paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. On the AnTuTu benchmark, the chip scores around 500,000 points. This chip is a rebranded Dimensity 1050, the first MediaTek chip with mmWave 5G support.

There is a big 5,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging. The phone does not have wireless charging support, something the Motorola Edge 40 has. But, the battery size is bigger than the Edge 40 (4,400mAh vs. 5,000mAh).

Apart from the chip and the battery size, the specifications are almost identical to the Motorola Edge 40. There is the same 6.55-inch 10-bit pOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, HDR10+ support, 144Hz refresh rate, and 1300 nits peak brightness.

The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor, the primary rear camera has a 50MP sensor (with OIS), and the ultrawide camera has a 13MP sensor. It is worth mentioning that the 50MP camera on the Motorola Edge 40 has an f/1.4 aperture lens, whereas the one on the Edge 40 Neo has an f/1.8 aperture lens.

All three cameras can shoot up to 4K 30fps videos.

Finally, Motorola Edge 40 Neo runs on Android 13, and the company has promised two Android OS updates.
