Earlier this year, in May, MediaTek launched three new chipsets – Dimensity 1050, Dimensity 930 & Helio G99. We now have the first smartphone powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1050 & it is from Motorola. The phone is named Motorola Edge 2022 & the device is already listed on the company’s US website. The price is $498 on T-Mobile, but the phone is also coming to AT&T and Verizon.

Motorola Edge 2022

The Motorola Edge 2022 is a mid-range 5G phone with a polycarbonate build. The fingerprint scanner sits under the display & the bezels are pretty slim. There’s a hole punch cutout in the center for the selfie camera. The phone lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack but does include a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. And well, that is pretty much all about the design.

In terms of the specifications, the biggest USP of this phone is the SOC. MediaTek Dimensity 1050 is built on the 6nm process, and it is the first SOC by MediaTek that supports both mmWave & sub-6GHz 5G. This is something that even the flagship Dimensity 9000 lacks. This makes the Dimensity 1050 a perfect choice for the US. The phone comes with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage.

The camera setup on the rear includes a primary 50MP sensor with OIS, a 13MP sensor with a 120-degree lens, and a depth sensor. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera. You can shoot 4K videos at up to 30fps via the rear camera, whereas the video recording is limited to up to 1080p 30fps with the front camera.

Finally, the Motorola Edge 2022 has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 30W fast charging. There is also support for 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. The charger does not come in the box.
