So recently, Motorola announced that it is launching the Edge 20 series in China on the 5th of August & one thing that was confirmed via this announcement was the 108 Megapixel camera sensor. As we already know, all three phones under the Edge 20 series come with a 108MP sensor. A few days ago, some high-quality unofficial renders of the Edge 20 showed us its design from every angle & now, Evan Blass has shared the official image of Motorola Edge 20 Pro, which is codenamed “Sierra.” As the name shows, this is the highest-end phone under the Edge 20 lineup.
So, design-wise, there are some similarities as compared to the design of Edge 20. First of all, there is no longer a curved display on the front as we saw last year in the Edge series phones. Now, for a majority of users, this comes as a welcome change because even if the curved display looks premium, it comes with its own issues like accidental touches. Last year’s Edge lineup also had some major display issues, so this time, Motorola didn’t take any risks and hence went for a flat panel on the front of all its Edge 20 series devices.
On the back, you see the biggest difference between the Edge 20 & Edge 20 Pro in terms of the design. One of the cameras has a periscope-style lens that enables 5X Optical Zoom. As we know, this lens has an 8 Megapixel sensor behind it. The other two cameras include 108-megapixel & 16-megapixel (ultrawide) sensors. While the Motorola Edge has a side-facing fingerprint scanner, the Motorola Edge 20 comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner since we know that there is a 120Hz OLED on the front. It is a 6.67-inch panel with a 1080p resolution. So, it is an upgrade over the 90Hz OLED of last year’s Edge+.
We can also see an extra button on the left side, and that’s a dedicated button for Google Assistant.
And finally, while the Motorola Edge+ launched as a high-end premium flagship phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack, the Edge 20 Pro does not have a headphone jack at all.
As we know, there is Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SOC powering this phone which is the same chipset that powered this year’s Motorola Edge S.
