Motorola is launching three new devices on the 11th of August – the foldable Moto Razr 2022, the premium flagship Moto X30 Pro & the high-end Moto S30 Pro. Today, the official renders of the Moto S30 Pro were shared on Weibo by Digital Chat Station, along with the major specifications. As the name suggests, this phone is a more feature-packed version of the last year’s Moto S30, launched outside China as the Moto G200.
Design-wise, the Moto S30 Pro comes in two color options, where the Blue color variant has a leather-like back finish. The frame is made of metal & the display is curved on the sides. There are minimal bezels all around the display, and in the middle, there is a hole punch cutout for the selfie shooter. The phone has a triple camera setup on the rear.
Speaking of the specifications shared by DCS, the S30 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 888+ SOC. While it is not the latest and greatest chipset by Qualcomm, it is still a powerful flagship SOC. For comparison, the Moto G200 launched last year with the same chip. The 6.55-inch panel on the front is an OLED panel since it is curved on the sides, and we don’t see any physical fingerprint scanner as well. For comparison, Moto S30 had a 144Hz LCD.
The S30 Pro is slim at 7.6mm and weighs around 170 grams. One of the reasons for this is a small-sized battery. The battery size is just 4,270mAh which, in terms of 2022’s standards, is not that large of a capacity. The phone does support 68W fast wired charging. For comparison, Moto S30 had a 5,000mAh cell with 33W fast charging.
Finally, as we can see, the camera module on the rear says 50MP, so the primary camera has a 50MP sensor with OIS.
We do not know the price yet, but Moto S30 launched last year at ¥1999 or around $300, making it a flagship killer. Since the Moto S30 Pro gets a curved OLED panel, faster charging, and an upgraded SOC, the price will go up.
