Starting with the design, the G85 comes in three colors – Cobalt Blue, Olive Green, and Urban Grey. The Blue & Green options feature a vegan leather material on the back, whereas the Grey option has a PMMA material on the back with a matte finish. On the front, the phone has a curved display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device is pretty slim and lightweight at 7.59mm and 179g, respectively.

There are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a USB 2.0 Type-C port on the bottom, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

Under the hood, the Moto G85 was the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, which is a slightly improved Snapdragon 695. This SOC is built on the 6nm process, and the CPU is clocked at up to 2.3GHz (versus 2.2GHz in the 695). There is 8GB or 12GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage. The battery is 5,000mAh, and there is 33W fast charging support. The 33W adapter is provided in the box.

There is no 4K video recording support as the SOC does not support it.

The display is a 6.67-inch pOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, 1600 nits peak brightness, and 10-bit colors.

Finally, Android 14 runs out of the box.
