Moto G7 CAD renders reveal waterdrop notch & huge bezels

It was Motorola that completely changed the budget smartphone market when it launched the Moto G in 2013. It was such a value for money phone at that time that it went on to become to best selling smartphone from the company. But then, Lenovo acquired Motorola, and we saw a lot of unexpected things like the launch of a lot of smartphones in a single year from the company, poor pricing, slow Android updates and more.

2018 wasn’t a good year for Motorola as the company didn’t impress much with the G6 series. Also, the high-end Z series included phones like the Moto Z3 with the old Snapdragon 835 processor, so the company failed in impressing with its flagships as well. Then, we saw the launch the Motorola One and Motorola One Power, the Android One phones with a design inspired by the iPhone X.

Surprisingly, the company launched the Motorola One Power at a pretty good price in the budget segment of the Indian smartphone market. The phone sold out in seconds in its first sale on Flipkart. So, should we now assume that Motorola understood its mistakes? Maybe not.

Moto G7

Next year, we will see the Moto G7 series being launched that will include the G7 and G7 Plus (Hopefully no G7 Play). As per the CAD renders that showed up today, the phone is coming with a waterdrop notch and huge bezels all around. The renders reveal that the phone has a glass and metal design, just like this year’s G6 and G6 Plus. But, the phone does look weird with the front panel in silver color (We normally see Black coloured front panels).

Still, the phone looks premium due to that Glass and metal body, and as per MySmartPrice, the Moto G7 has 3D Glass on the rear as seen on the Moto X4 of last year. Since the phone has a waterdrop notch, the screen-to-body ratio is hopefully more than the recently launched Motorola One Power that has a huge notch on top.

On the rear, the Moto G7 has a dual camera setup with a design inspired by the Moto Z3 Play. The camera bump is not that huge, so that’s a good thing. Unlike the Moto G6 and the G6 Plus, the Moto G7 has the fingerprint scanner under the Motorola logo on the rear. The USB Type-C port, 3.5mm headphone jack and the speaker grill are placed on the bottom.

The specifications of the Moto G7 aren’t known yet, but as per the rumours, there is a Full-HD+ display, Android Pie, 3,500mAh battery, 16MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, 12MP front camera, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM and an unknown octa-core Snapdragon chip.
