Moto G5S & G5S Plus Launched – Special Editions Joining the G5 Family

So the wait is finally over as Motorola finally launched the Moto G5S and G5S Plus smartphones today and this completes the tally of 10 smartphones that the company has launched so far. It is worth noticing that it’s still halfway through 2017. To clear all the confusions about G5, G5S, G5 Plus, and G5S Plus, just understand that the letter ‘S’ means these phones are ‘Special Editions.’ (Thank God the company didn’t choose the names G5SE and G5SE Plus!)

Anyways, apart from the display, camera and the build, there is nothing different if we compare these with G5 and G5 Plus. Same Processor, RAM, battery, etc. Let’s have a look at the specifications of both the phones.

Moto G5S Official

OnePlus 11R

So, it seems the primary focus is on the Moto G5S Plus only as it comes with dual rear cameras and the cameras can capture 4K videos at 30 frames per second. As for the G5S, it has a slightly bigger display, full metal body, a better camera and bigger battery.

It is disappointing that the G5S Plus has the same battery size as the G5 Plus. Also, we were hoping to see Snapdragon 626, but it’s the same Snapdragon 625 processor that is on the G5 Plus.

Both new Moto G’s will be available starting this month in various countries globally and coming to the US this fall. Moto G5S starts at 249 EUR, and Moto G5S Plus starts at 299 EU. This is higher than the starting prices of Moto G5 and G5 Plus that were €199 and €229, respectively. What are your views about these phones? Do let us know via the comments section.
