Moto G54 5G launched in India with MediaTek Dimensity 7020

India's first phone with Dimensity 7020 chipset

Release Date
September 6, 2023
Starting Price
₹15,999

Moto G54 5G is now official in the Indian market, and while the company launched Moto G53 5G in January, that phone never made it to the Indian market. So, for the Indian market, the G54 5G can be considered a successor to the Moto G52, launched in April without 5G support.

The G54 5G starts at ₹15,999, and for the price, this phone offers a pretty good value for money.

Moto G54 comes in three colors – Pearl Blue, Mint Green & Midnight Blue. The camera module design is identical to the recently launched Moto G84 5G, with the only change being the placement of the LED flash. So, unlike the Moto G52, which had a triple camera setup, the G54 5G has a dual one.

The phone has a polycarbonate build, flat sides, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IP52 rating. The display on the front has a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera and a noticeable bottom bezel. Moto G52 had quite slim bezels last year due to the pOLED panel. But the Moto G54 5G has an IPS LCD, hence a bigger bottom bezel.

The display is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with a Full-HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080) and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The phone comes with a massive 6,000mAh battery and supports 33W fast charging.

Moto G54 5G

Under the hood, Moto G54 5G has the MediaTek Dimensity 7020 chipset with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. This is a 6nm-based chip with an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.2GHz and the IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. It is worth mentioning that the specifications of this chip are identical to the MediaTek Dimensity 930. Hence, this is most likely yet another MediaTek chip with a different name but the same specs as an existing chip. Interestingly, the Moto G73 5G was launched in March with the Dimensity 930 SOC.

The primary camera on the rear has a 50MP sensor with OIS and quad-pixel technology (2.0µm pixel size). The second rear camera has an 8MP sensor that can shoot ultrawide/macro photos. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP camera.

The phone runs on Android 13 and will get only one Android OS update.

Here is the pricing for the Indian market –

  • 8GB + 128GB – ₹15,999
  • 12GB + 256GB – ₹18,999

The sale starts on September 13.
