In December last year, Motorola launched the Moto G51 in India with the Snapdragon 480+ SOC. The phone launched at ₹14,999, and for the price, it offered 5G support, a 120Hz LCD, and a 50MP camera. Today, the company launched its successor in India, named the Moto G52. Surprisingly, this one is a non-5G phone that starts at ₹14,499 and offers the Snapdragon 680 SOC. But, 5G aside, there are some notable upgrades over the Moto G51.
Design-wise, the Moto G52 looks more or less the same as the Moto G51. There is a display with a hole punch cutout in the middle, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a triple camera setup on the back, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. This time, the G52 has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. Also, the bezels on the front are slimmer. One reason for that is the type of panel that Motorola used this time. Instead of an LCD, Motorola went for a P-OLED panel on the G52 with a 90Hz refresh rate.
It is a 6.6-inch FHD+ display, and thanks to the OLED panel, you get deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors compared to an LCD.
Moto G52 has the Snapdragon 680 SOC under the hood, which does not support 5G. It is the same SOC that powers phones such as Redmi 10 Power, Redmi 10 2022, Realme 9i, Redmi Note 11, etc. All of these are phones priced under ₹15,000, just like the G52. There is 4GB or 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. There is also support for microSD card of up to 1TB.
In terms of cameras, the G52 has three on the back. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens, the secondary camera has an 8MP sensor with an ultrawide lens, and the third camera has a 2MP sensor with a macro lens. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera on the front. So, on paper, the rear camera setup is the same as that of the Moto G51. But, the selfie camera is upgraded to 16MP from 13MP.
The battery size is 5,000mAh, and Moto G52 supports 33W fast charging. Even with a big battery, the thickness is 7.99mm, and the weight is just 169g. Android 12 runs out of the box with Motorola’s MyUX on top. Motorola also promises an Android 13 update for this device. Other features include IP52 splash-proof design, ThinkShield Security, NFC, etc.
In India, Moto G52 comes in two colors named Charcoal Grey and Porcelain White. There are two storage options, and here is the price –
- 4GB + 64GB – ₹14,499
- 6GB + 128GB – ₹16,499
The phone is available on Flipkart, and the sale commences on the 3rd of May. You can also use HDFC Credit Card or Easy EMI to get instant ₹1000 off. That brings the starting price down to ₹13,499.
