In November last year, Micromax launched its new Android phones under the new “IN” lineup named the IN Note 1 & the IN 1b. Both of these were pretty aggressively priced phones, and today, the company launched the successor of IN 1b in India named the Micromax IN 2b. The company was teasing the launch for quite some time with the hashtag “#NoHangPhone,” and now, it’s finally here. The price starts at Rs 7,999 in India, and for that price, this phone offers a UniSOC T610 chipset. This SOC was launched by UniSOC this year in July.
Design-wise, there isn’t anything extraordinary here, and that’s not a surprise since this is a super affordable budget phone. There is a dual-camera setup on the back along with the fingerprint scanner & on the front, the display has a waterdrop notch. So, the design is mostly the same as the IN 1b. One good thing is that at this price, Micromax did not go for a micro-USB port and instead kept the USB Type-C port.
There is a 6.52-inch LCD on the front with 720p resolution & that notch on top has the 5 Megapixel selfie shooter inside it. The dual-camera setup on the back includes a primary 13 Megapixel camera paired with a 2 Megapixel depth sensor.
The biggest highlight of this phone is its SOC. It is the UNISOC T610 which is built on the 12nm manufacturing process and has an octa-core CPU. This CPU consists of two performance-based Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. Micromax says that on the AnTuTu benchmark, the IN 2b scores around 176,000, which is higher than most of the phones at this price.
While the IN 1b offered 3GB RAM for the base model, the Micromax IN 2b comes with 4GB RAM as the base, and you have the option to go for the 6GB RAM variant as well. The storage type is eMMC 5.1.
Finally, there is a 5,000mAh battery, and the phone supports 10W charging. Android 11 runs out of the box with no bloatware or ads.
In India, Micromax IN 2b comes in three colors – Black, Blue & Green. There are two storage options and the pricing is as follows –
- 4GB + 64GB – ₹7,999
- 6GB + 64GB – ₹8,999
The first sale will take place on the 6th of August and you can buy the phone via Flipkart or Micromax’s official website.
