The Meizu 21 was officially launched in China in November 2023 with a beautiful design and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Today, Meizu launched its successor in the Chinese market, the Meizu 22. Like last year, the main USP of the successor is its design language, as the phone looks beautiful, especially from the front. The Meizu 22 Pro was not launched today, so it may launch later.

Meizu 22

Design-wise, we are looking at a phone with perhaps the thinnest bezels in the world. The Meizu 22 has a display with extremely slim 1.2mm bezels on all four sides. This is a flat display, which is the icing on the cake. There is a metal frame, and the phone has a dedicated button on the side for AI features. There is a square camera module on the rear with a triple camera setup. There are stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and the phone is IP68-certified.

The display is a 6.3-inch 8T LTPO OLED with a 1.5K resolution, DC dimming, hardware-level low blue light, and 6000 nits of local peak brightness. The global peak brightness goes up to 1800 nits. There is a 3D ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, and there is a 4500mm² vapor chamber cooling system for better thermal management.

The Meizu 22 packs a 5,510mAh silicon-carbon battery and supports 80W wired charging alongside 66W wireless charging.

Speaking of cameras, the phone has three on the back. The primary camera has a 1/1.3″ 50MP OmniVision OV50H sensor with a large f/1.68 aperture lens and OIS support. The ultrawide camera uses a 1/2.88″ 50MP OmniVision OV50D sensor with support for 2.5cm macro shots. There is a third periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95″ 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, 3x optical zoom, 15cm telephoto macro, and OIS. The selfie camera has a 1/2.88″ 50MP OmniVision OV50D sensor.

Finally, the Meizu 22 runs on Android Flyme AIOS 2 out of the box.
