Meizu 17 Series to get 120Hz refresh rate in the upcoming update

A few days ago Meizu launched its flagships in China under the Meizu 17 Series & both these phones feature a 90Hz OLED screen. It is the first time Meizu went for high-refresh-rate panels on its flagship devices. Well, it looks like both the Meizu 17 & Meizu 17 Pro have the hardware needed for 120Hz refresh rate, but the company didn’t enable the 120Hz Mode for some reasons.

Now, Meizu has announced that the 120Hz refresh rate is currently being tested & in an upcoming OTA update, there would be an option in the settings to enable 120Hz refresh rate. Now, Meizu didn’t say if the touch-sampling-rate will also be upgraded with the refresh rate.

A reason for not launching these phones with 120Hz refresh rate could be that Meizu was testing the effect of 120Hz refresh rate on the battery of the phone. Also, maybe the company wanted to see how high-refresh-rate would work with its FlymeOS.

In case you missed our article where we covered both the phones, the Meizu 17 starts at 3,699 Yuan whereas the Meizu 17 Pro at 4,299 Yuan. Both these are flagships with Snapdragon 865 5G SOC, 64MP IMX686 camera, 4,500mAh battery, 30W Fast Wired Charging & an FHD+ OLED panel.
