Alleged MediaTek Dimensity 9400 specs surface online

Built on TSMC's 3nm process

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 was launched in November last year with an “All Big-Core” architecture. This made it the first smartphone chipset with a CPU with all big cores. We have already seen smartphones powered by this chipset, including the Vivo X100, Vivo X100 Pro, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, and Oppo Find X7.

A leak has revealed the key specifications of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, the company’s flagship chip for next year.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is built on the TSMC’s 3nm N3E process. This alone is quite a significant upgrade from the 4nm N4P process used for the Dimensity 9300. The Dimensity 9400 will have a similar “All Big-Core” architecture as the Dimensity 9300. While the Dimensity 9300’s CPU has four Cortex-X4 cores, the Dimensity 9400’s CPU has one Cortex-X5 core and three Cortex-X4 cores. The four Cortex-A720 are the same for both. There are no details on the clock speeds yet, but we expect them to be higher than the Dimensity 9300’s CPU.

One of the highlights of the Dimensity 9300 was the AI performance, which will be even better in the Dimensity 9400. The chip has an upgraded NPU, offering up to 50% faster generation from Llama 2 7B and up to 15% faster image generation using Stable Diffusion 1.5.

Recently, some screenshots were making rounds on the internet which show the AnTuTu and Geekbench scores of the Dimensity 9400. While it is hard to say how accurate those screenshots were, they revealed a multi-core score of over 10,000 on Geekbench, which is the first for a smartphone chipset. On AnTuTu, the chipset reportedly scores over 3 Million points.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be launched in Q4 2024.
