MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9200 chipset in November of last year, and it was MediaTek’s reply to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC. The Dimensity 9200 featured the Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.05GHz and the new ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU. The company is now preparing to launch the upgraded version of this chip, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+. This isn’t new since last year, too, we got the Dimensity 9000+ SOC which was an upgraded version of the Dimensity 9000.
The CPU of MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ will feature higher clock speeds than the Dimensity 9200. As per Digital Chat Station, the Dimensity 9200+ has the same core configuration, but the clock speeds are higher for all the cores.
The prime Cortex-X3 core is clocked at 3.35GHz, compared to 3.05GHz. The three Cortex-A715 cores are clocked at 3.0GHz, compared to 2.85GHz. Finally, the four Cortex-A510 cores are clocked at 2.0GHz, compared to 1.8GHz. Last year, the Dimensity 9000+ featured higher clock speeds only for the Cortex-X2 core, compared to the Dimensity 9000. And that resulted in a 5% CPU performance boost.
But this time, all the cores are getting upgraded clock speeds, so we expect at least a 10% better CPU performance than the Dimensity 9200. Digital Chat Station did not mention any GPU upgrades, so we assume the Dimensity 9200+ has the same ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU as the Dimensity 9200.
A Vivo smartphone with model number V2302A was recently spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark, and it is expected to be the iQOO Neo 8 Pro. The AnTuTu listing reveals the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ SOC; the benchmark score is over 1.35 Million. This is higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (around 1.31 Million).
Well, the iQOO Neo 8 series is expected to launch next month in the Chinese market so we may see the first MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ powered phone sooner than expected.
