Lenovo announced some interesting phones today in China, and the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT was a surprise with Snapdragon 855 and 12GB RAM. We have covered it in our previous article so you can check that out if you want to. Another announcement that Lenovo made today was for the Lenovo Z5s. It is a mid-range phone from the company with some great specifications and a nice design.
Yep, there is no in-display front camera as rumored. The phone has a waterdrop notch on the front and a small chin on the bottom. Still, this small notch is better than those huge notches that we see on the budget and mid-range phones. There is glass on the back as well and a metal frame. This gives a premium look and feel to the phone. Moreover, the Lenovo Z5s comes in some eye catchy colors like Gradient Orange, Purple, etc.
The phone retains the 3.5mm headphone jack, and it is placed on the bottom along with the USB Type-C port and the speaker grill. On the rear, there are triple cameras, and honestly, the rear design is a shameless copy of the Huawei P20 Pro. We are sure that you can’t disagree with that either. The triple cameras are placed vertically in the same way as on the P20 Pro. The Lenovo branding too is placed vertically, just like the Huawei branding on the P20 Pro.
Coming to the specifications, the Lenovo Z5s has a 6.3-inch LTPS Full-HD+ LCD panel with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. There is no mention of the Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the official site so we cannot say if the phone has one. The processor powering the Z5s is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, which is a mid-range 10nm chipset clocked at up to 2.2GHz. There is 4/6GB RAM and 64/128GB internal storage.
There are triple cameras on the back. So, the Lenovo Z5s has a primary 16MP wide-angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera with 2X Optical ZOOM, and a 5MP depth sensor. This is not the best combination we have seen so far, right? 4K video recording is supported, but there is no mention of OIS, so we doubt if the camera has OIS. On the front, there is a single 16MP camera that is also used for Face Unlock.
Android 9 Pie runs out of the box with ZUI 10 on top. There is a 3,300mAh battery underneath that supports Fast charging via the USB Type-C port.
So, the specifications are pretty good for a mid-ranger, aren’t they? The color options include Gradient Grey, Gradient Orange, and Gradient Purple. Here is the pricing for the Chinese market –
- 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM – CNY 1,398 ($202)
- 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM – CNY 1,598 ($231)
- 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM – CNY 1,898 ($275)
Pre-orders start from today in China, and the sale starts from December 24.
