Earlier this year, in March, the Lenovo Legion Y90 went official in China, a gaming phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Today, Lenovo launched the Legion Y70 in China. Going by the name, you may think this is a less powerful device than the Y90, but that’s not the case. Lenovo Legion Y70 is the most powerful Lenovo flagship currently since it is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC. This is the only phone by Lenovo right now with this chipset. The price is lower than the Y90 as it starts at ¥2970 (~$436). This is now the cheapest smartphone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC in the market.
There are three color options, and the phone looks unique due to the camera module design, where there are two layers. One layer has the two sensors and the LED flash, whereas the other has the third camera sensor. The upper layer has a darker shade than the bottom one. The Red color variant looks even more unique due to the dual-tone back design. The sides are flat, and so is the display on the front.
The phone is 7.99mm thick and weighs around 209g. The weight is due to the premium materials used in the build. The frame is made of metal and has a brushed metal finish. Lenovo claims this phone has the largest vapor chamber at 5,047 square mm. There is a 10-layer cooling system and a total heat dissipation area of 36938.257mm square. There are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and an X-axis linear motor.
The panel on the front is a 6.67-inch 144Hz OLED, and in the official renders, the bezels look extremely thin. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and is paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. The battery size is 5,100mAh, and there is 68W fast wired charging support.
As for the cameras, Lenovo Legion Y70 has a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 13MP sensor with an ultrawide lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary sensor can also shoot 8K videos. For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor. Finally, Android 12 runs out of the box with the ZUI 14 skin.
