Kirin 985 SOC pops up on AI Benchmark with a 2-core NPU

HiSilicon, in case you don’t know, is a Huawei-owned semiconductor company that makes the Kirin SOCs for Huawei and Honor devices. The most powerful Kirin SOC till date is the Kirin 990 5G that we saw powering this year’s Huawei P40 series. Today, the Kirin 985 SOC popped up on AI Benchmark which confirmed the existence of this SOC.

Kirin 985 SOC on AI Benchmark

On AI Benchmark, the Kirin 985 SOC easily beats the Kirin 820 and Kirin 990 4G with a huge margin. The two SOCs that score higher than it are the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 and the Kirin 990 5G. It has an octa-core CPU that consists of 1x Cortex-A76 core at 2.58GHz, 3x Cortex-A76 cores at 2.40GHz, and 4x Cortex-A55 cores at 1.84GHz. There is a 2-Core DaVinci NPU as well.

There are already reports that this SOC would be powering one of the upcoming Honor 30 series devices and hence launch on April 15th. So, if that’s the case then there is no doubt that the Honor 30 has the Kirin 985 SOC whereas the Honor 30 Pro has Kirin 990 5G SOC.
