iQOO Z5 Starting Price in China

iQOO Z5 is now official in the Chinese market, and as the name suggests, this is the successor to iQOO Z3, a phone that launched in March this year with a 120Hz LCD & Snapdragon 768G SOC. The Z5 brings some notable upgrades such as the Snapdragon 778G chip, a hole-punch design instead of a notch, a bigger battery, etc. The phone is also launching soon in the Indian market, as already announced by the iQOO India. The launch in India is scheduled to happen on the 27th of this month.

Speaking of the design first, iQOO Z5 has a completely different design compared to the Z3. On the rear, the camera module now has a new design, and also, on the front, there is no longer a waterdrop notch that made the iQOO Z3 look pretty old school. The phone now has a hole-punch design. The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom, and the headphone jack is on the top. The phone also has stereo speakers.

In terms of the display, iQOO did not go for an AMOLED panel this time as well. Just like in the case of the iQOO Z3, the Z5 has a 120Hz LCD. It is a 6.67-inch panel with a Full-HD+ resolution & HDR10 support. The fingerprint scanner, therefore, is on the right side and not under the display.

Perhaps the biggest USP of iQOO Z5 is performance. Under the hood, there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G SOC, and on top of that, you get LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, a combination that we don’t often see in mid-range phones.

The battery size is 5,000mAh this time, and the phone supports 44W fast charging. For comparison, iQOO Z3 had a 4,400mAh battery and 55W fast charging.

The camera setup remains the same as iQOO Z3, so you get a 64MP primary, an 8 Megapixel ultrawide & a 2 Megapixel macro camera on the back. There is a 16MP selfie camera. The rear camera also supports 4K video recording. Finally, OriginOS 1.0 runs out of the box, which is based on Android 11.

Finally, coming to the pricing in China, the phone comes in three storage options and here is the pricing –

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥1899 ($294)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥2099 ($325)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥2299 ($356)

The sale starts on the 28th of September in the Chinese market.
