In December last year, the iQOO Neo 9 series was launched in China, including the Neo 9 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 & the Neo 9 Pro with Dimensity 9300. Two months after its launch in China, the brand is now bringing one of its phones to the Indian market. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro will be launched in India on February 22, and this is the same phone available in China as the iQOO Neo 9.
It is the successor to the iQOO Neo 7 Pro in the Indian market, which was launched in July last year with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and very aggressive pricing. The Neo 7 Pro was launched in India as the most affordable phone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, so we expect the same to be the case with iQOO Neo 9 Pro.
Compared to the Neo 7 Pro, the Neo 9 Pro brings a fresh new design language, which includes a two-tone design on the back and two large circular camera modules, each having a camera sensor. There are flat sides and a flat display with a hole punch cutout. The phone has an under-display fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, an IP54 rating, and an X-axis linear motor.
Regarding specifications, iQOO Neo 9 Pro in India features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a noticeable upgrade over the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 inside the Neo 7 Pro. The phone has LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The battery is 5,160mAh, and the phone supports 120W fast charging. The iQOO’s Q1 chip, which is used for a better gaming experience, is also in this phone.
The display is a 6.78-inch 1.5K 8T LTPO AMOLED with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 3000 nits peak brightness, and 2,160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. On the back, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro has two cameras – a 50MP Sony IMX920 sensor with OIS and an 8MP sensor for the ultrawide/macro camera. The selfie shooter has a 16MP sensor. The phone supports 8K video recording.
Finally, Android 14 runs out of the box.
Compared to the iQOO Neo 7 Pro, there are some significant upgrades this time. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro has a better display, cameras, battery, performance and design. We expect the price to be quite aggressive this time as well. The iQOO Neo 7 Pro was launched in India at ₹34,999, so we expect the iQOO Neo 9 Pro to launch under ₹40,000 in India.
