Last month, iQOO Neo 6 launched in China with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and a starting price of ¥2799, which translates to around $439. Today, the brand launched iQOO Neo 6 SE in China, the successor to the iQOO Neo 5 SE. The upgrades? The main upgrades include an AMOLED (instead of LCD) and faster charging. The design is also new as compared to the Neo 5 SE.
Design-wise, the phone looks similar to the iQOO Neo 6. It is impossible to differentiate between the Neo 6 & Neo 6 SE based on the design alone since everything is similar. There is a camera module with a triple camera setup and the NEO branding.
There is a stereo speaker setup, an X-axis linear motor, and even an IR blaster on the top. The phone’s weight is around 190g, and it is 8.54mm thick.
Speaking of the specs, iQOO Neo 6 SE has the Snapdragon 870 SOC, the same chipset that powered the iQOO Neo 5 SE. This is not a bad thing because we know how good the Snapdragon 870 is when it comes to performance and thermals. This is perhaps the most balanced Snapdragon 800 series SOC so far. For better thermal management, the phone has liquid cooling too. There is LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The display gets a significant upgrade when compared to iQOO Neo 5 SE. While the Neo 5 SE had an LCD, iQOO Neo 6 SE gets an AMOLED. This is a 6.62-inch 120Hz E4 AMOLED with 1300 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ support, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. This is the same panel that is used on the iQOO Neo 6. The hole punch on top has a 16MP selfie camera.
The triple camera setup on the rear includes a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. The iQOO Neo 5 SE had a 50MP primary sensor and no OIS.
The battery size is 4,700mAh, so it is bigger than the 4,500mAh cell of the iQOO Neo 5 SE. Moreover, the charging speed gets an upgrade, so the iQOO NEO 6 SE supports 80W charging, compared to the 55W charging of Neo 5 SE. Finally, OriginOS Ocean runs out of the box based on Android 12.
iQOO Neo 6 SE comes in three colors and here is the pricing for China –
8GB + 128GB – ¥1999 (~$299)
8GB + 256GB – ¥2299 (~$344)
12GB + 256GB – ¥2499 (~$374)
The phone goes on sale on the 11th of May in China. There is no information on the launch outside of China.
