In January this year, iQOO 7 launched in the Chinese market, which later came to India as the iQOO 7 Legend. Now, six months after the launch of iQOO 7, it’s time for the iQOO 8. Since iQOO follows the half-yearly upgrade timeline for its phones, the successor of the iQOO 7 is expected to launch soon & today, a fresh leak has revealed the key specifications of that device. Ice Universe shared a screenshot on Weibo which shows the ‘About Phone’ section of an iQOO 8 series device.
The screenshot reveals that the device carries the model number “PD2141” and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset. It is worth mentioning that we are yet to see a phone powered by this newest flagship SOC from Qualcomm, so the chances are that the iQOO 8 would be the first phone powered by 888 Plus. Along with this SOC, there is 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the “Extended RAM” feature is there in iQOO 8 as well since we can see the “12GB + 4GB” mentioned in the specs list. This isn’t anything futuristic but just another way to call “Virtual Memory.”
There is 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage & Android 11 based OriginOS 1.0 is running out of the box instead of FuntouchOS. This was the case with iQOO 7 as well (for China).
Ice Universe also said that there is a Quad-HD+ display, this time with a resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels, so that’s interesting since, so far, all iQOO flagships have featured an FHD+ panel.
iQOO has not yet announced the launch date, but since six months have already been completed since the launch of iQOO 7, we don’t think the launch is very far. Stay Tuned!
