Huawei Mate X was the first foldable phone from the brand, which was unveiled at the MWC Barcelona in February 2019. Later, Huawei launched the Mate Xs in 2020 with some minor upgrades, and now, the brand is all set to launch its third foldable phone. The Huawei Mate X2 is in the news for quite some time, and today, the company announced the launch date on Weibo. The launch is happening on the 22nd of this month, so there are still almost three weeks left for the unveiling.
The image posted by the company gives us a glimpse of the foldable screen, and this confirms all the previous rumors and reports of an inwards folding screen. This means there is a secondary display on the outside similar to one on the Galaxy Z Fold 2. As we know already, the Mate X2 features an 8.01-inch primary foldable screen on the inside with a resolution of 2480×2200 pixels and a secondary 6.45-inch screen on the outside with a resolution of 2700×1160 pixels. Under the hood, there is the Kirin 9000 SOC, and the phone packs a 4,400mAh battery along with support for 66W Fast Wired charging.
Huawei Mate X2 has a Quad camera setup on the back that includes a primary 50 Megapixel shooter paired with a 16MP, 12MP, and 8MP camera. One of these is a periscope camera, so there is support for 10X Hybrid Optical Zoom. For selfies, there is a 16 Megapixel camera.
Well, we don’t yet have any official renders of the phone, so it is not exactly known how the device actually looks like.
