If you follow Huawei’s smartphone launches, you must be familiar with the “RS Porsche Design” phones. Along with the regular Mate series smartphones, Huawei also launches the “RS Porsche Design” phone every year. The USP of these phones is the premium and unique design. Today, the Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design was launched in the Chinese market.
There is no longer the “Porsche Design” branding, so it is likely that Huawei’s partnership with “Porsche Design” no longer exists. If you don’t know, “Porsche Design” is a German product design studio. The “Ultimate Design” is Huawei’s premium branding that it will use on its premium and luxurious smartphones.
The Huawei Mate 60 RS Ultimate Design comes in Black and red colors. Both have a two-tone design on the back, where the upper portion is ceramic, whereas the bottom is metal. A huge octagon-shaped camera module on the rear has a triple camera setup. There are stereo speakers, an IR blaster on top, a USB Type C (3.1 Gen 1) port, and a SIM card tray on the bottom.
The phone is IP68 certified and weighs around 246g. The thickness is 8.1mm.
The triple camera setup on the rear includes a 48MP primary sensor with a variable aperture lens (f/1.4-f/4.0) + OIS, a 40MP ultrawide camera, and a 48MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, OIS and f/3.0 aperture lens. For selfies, a 13MP sensor with an f/2.4 lens is paired with a 3D depth sensor for facial recognition.
The chipset is the Kirin 9000s, with 16GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB storage.
The battery is 5,000mAh, and the phone supports 88W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and 20W fast reverse wireless charging.
HarmonyOS 4.0 runs out of the box, and the phone can do satellite calls and text messages like the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. Finally, there is a 6.82-inch 10-bit LTPO OLED with 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and 2720 × 1260 pixels resolution.
