Just a few days are now left for the launch of Huawei Mate 40 Series that includes at least four flagships – Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+ & the Porsche Design Mate 40 RS. In our previous article, we talked about the leaked camera specs & the rear design of the Porsche Design Mate 40 RS. Well, the official press renders of the Huawei Mate 40 Pro have also leaked & they were shared by WinFuture.
Last year’s Mate 30 Pro had a notch on top that had the dual camera setup & other sensors, but this time, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a hole-punch design. There is a pill-shaped cutout that houses the dual selfie cameras & probably other sensors. The display has curved sides, but unlike the Mate 30 Pro that had no buttons on the side due to a Waterfall display, the sides are not that much curved on the Mate 40 Pro, so there is still space for physical buttons on the side.
There is a circular camera module design that includes four sensors stacked around the LEICA branding in the centre. Everything is placed inside this camera module, so the LED Flash & other sensors are not outside of the module like on the Mate 30 Pro.
Talking about the camera specs, the Mate 40 Pro has a 50 Megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture lens & OIS, a secondary 20 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a 12 Megapixel telephoto lens with 5X Optical Zoom & a fourth sensor that is most probably a ToF sensor.
The dual-camera setup on the front includes a primary 13 Megapixel sensor paired with a 3D sensor. The 3D sensor is used to detect the gestures on top of the display based on which various actions can be performed.
Under the hood, there is the 5nm Kirin 9000 5G SOC that has an octa-core CPU featuring a Cortex-A77 core clocked at up to 3.13GHz, three Cortex-A77 cores clocked at up to 2.54GHz & finally four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.04GHz. There is a Mali-G78 GPU.
Under the hood, Huawei Mate 40 Pro has a 4,400mAH battery & the phone supports 65W Fast Charging. The SuperCharge adapter is provided in the box. There is Wireless Charging as well as Reverse Wireless Charging.
Finally, the display on the front is a 6.76-inch OLED with a resolution of 2772×1344. It is not yet confirmed whether there is a high-refresh-rate display, but since the P40 Pro has that, we are expecting the Mate 40 Pro to have it as well.
Android 10 based EMUI 11 runs out of the box without any Google Apps or services. The phone will be available in at least two colors in the European market – Black & Silver. As far as the pricing is concerned, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro is expected to launch around €1100 in the European market.
