The Honor X series is known for premium-looking mid-range phones, and on the 15th of this month, we are getting the Honor X40 series. Last year, we got three phones under the X30 series – X30, X30i, and X30 Max. The Honor X40i is already official in China and starts at ¥1599 (~$230). Now, it is time for the other phones under this lineup. We know some details of the Honor X40 since the company has shared some features already. But today, the major specifications of the Honor X40 were shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo.
Design-wise, Honor X40 looks premium since it has a curved display on the front with minimal bezels all around. There is a ring on the rear that has the dual camera setup and the LED flash.
Speaking of the specs, the phone has a 6.67-inch display, and this is an OLED panel with Full-HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. This panel has a 10-bit color depth as well. It is worth mentioning that last year’s Honor X30 featured a 120Hz flat LCD, so display-wise, this is a massive upgrade.
The SOC is the same as last year’s Honor X30, i.e., Snapdragon 695 5G. The battery size is 5,100mAh, so that’s bigger than the 4,800mAh cell of the Honor X30. Interestingly, the charging speed is 40W this time which is slower than the 66W fast charging supported by the X30.
The camera setup is pretty average, so you get a 50MP sensor for the primary rear camera and a 2MP sensor for the secondary camera. For selfies, there is an 8MP camera. Finally, MagicUI 6.1 runs out of the box.
Looking at the specs, the Honor X40’s main USP is the design and the display. Apart from that, there is little to no difference in specs over the Honor X30. This also means that the phone should be priced quite aggressively.
