Just a couple of weeks ago, Honor 50 series went official in China, which included three phones under it, the Honor 50 SE, Honor 50 & Honor 50 Pro. Today, Honor launched a new mid-range phone under the “X” series named the Honor X20 SE. As the name suggests, this is the cheapest offering from the brand under the X20 series, and interestingly, no other phones under the X20 series were launched alongside it. So maybe the vanilla Honor X20 would launch sometime later.

Honor X20 SE

Speaking of the X20 SE, the design is one of the main highlights of this device. It comes with extremely thin bezels on the front, resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 94.2%. There is a hole punch for the selfie camera in the middle. The fingerprint scanner sits on the right side and doubles as the power button since there is an LCD and not an OLED. On the rear, there are three cameras placed in an oval-shaped camera module. The 3.5mm headphone jack is there on the phone.

The display on the front is a 6.6-inch IPS LCD with Full-HD+ resolution, and interestingly, there is no mention of a high-refresh-rate panel on the official website, so it is safe to say there is a normal 60Hz display. This is odd because even in the budget segment these days, we are getting phones with high-refresh-rate LCDs.

Honor X20 SE

Under the hood, the Honor X20 SE gets the Dimensity 700 5G chip from MediaTek, and this SOC is paired with 6GB or 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The battery size is 4,000mAh, and the phone supports 22.5W fast charging. The triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 64 Megapixel sensor that is paired with a 2 Megapixel depth sensor and a 2 Megapixel macro camera. Again, it is odd that this phone lacks an ultrawide angle camera.

The camera on the front is a 16 Megapixel unit. Finally, Android 11 runs out of the box with the Magic UI 4.1 running on top.

In terms of the pricing, Honor X20 SE comes in two storage options for the Chinese market, and here is the pricing –

  • 6GB + 128GB – 1,799 Yuan ($279)
  • 8GB + 128GB – 1,999 Yuan ($309)

The phone will go on sale on the 9th of July in China.
