Honor View 20 has an in-display selfie camera & a 48MP rear shooter

The launch of Samsung Galaxy A8s is happening in China today which is the first smartphone with a display hole for the front-facing camera. On December 17, the Huawei Nova 4 is launching with the similar design. Today, Honor showcased its upcoming Honor View 20 smartphone in China which is the company’s first device with an in-display selfie camera. FYI, the phone is launching in China on December 26 while the global launch will happen in Paris on January 22.

Honor View 20

The phone looks beautiful since there is no notch whatsoever and only a small cutout on the top left corner for the front camera. The Honor View 20 still has a noticeable chin on the bottom which is not a big deal since to remove that you need to fold the display underneath in such a way that it connects to the display controller on the rear of the device.

This is something we see on iPhone X, XS, and XS Max. This increases the cost to manufacture the device, and that’s the reason Android smartphone makers aren’t going for this.

Honor View 20

Just a few days back, Xiaomi’s Co-Founder revealed that the company would launch a phone in January with a 48MP sensor on the rear. It looks like Honor View 20 will be the first smartphone to incorporate such a big sensor. The phone has a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor on the rear so we’ll have to wait to see what the camera on this phone is capable of. And yes, there is a single camera on the rear.

The 4.5mm cutout on the front houses the single front camera. Finally, the View 20 will be powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset. Considering the fact that the Honor View 10 was a budget flagship, we can expect it to compete with the likes of Poco F1, Zenfone 5Z, etc.

As mentioned in the beginning, the Honor View 20 will launch on December 26 in China (As Honor V20) and globally on January 22 in Paris.
