Release Date

Starting Price
¥1899 (~$275)

In December last year, Honor launched its Android tablet, the V8 Pro, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset and a 12.1-inch 144Hz IMAX Enhanced display. Now, the brand has launched the vanilla V8 in the Chinese market. The Honor V8 comes with MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset under the hood, and if you haven’t heard of this chip before, then it’s because the Honor V8 is the first device to launch with the Dimensity 8020 SOC.

Honor V8

Design-wise, the Honor V8 looks identical to the V8 Pro, but interestingly, the vanilla model has a dual rear camera setup compared to a single camera on the V8 Pro. The back has a textured finish; the tablet is 7.35mm thick and weighs 485g. The tablet has a quad-speaker setup but lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The main USP is the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 SOC. It is built on the 6nm process and has an octa-core CPU featuring four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. There is a nine-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The tablet has two storage options – 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB.

On the front, Honor V8 has an 11-inch 16:10 IPS LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,560 x 1,600 pixels resolution. The V8 Pro has a larger 12.1-inch IPS LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate and the exact resolution. The V8 Pro also has IMAX Enhanced, whereas the V8 misses on that.

The battery size is 7,250mAh, and the tablet supports 22.5W fast charging. The Honor V8 Pro has a significantly larger 10,050mAh battery and faster 35W charging support.

The dual camera setup on the rear includes a 13MP primary shooter with an f/1.8 lens and a 2MP secondary camera. The selfie shooter has a 5MP sensor with a fixed focus.

Finally, Honor V8 runs on MagicUI 6.1, based on Android 12.

Honor V8 comes in two colors, and here is the pricing –

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥1899 (~$275)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥1999 (~$289)

For comparison, the V8 Pro was launched at ¥2599 (~$373).
