Today, Honor launched two new flagships in the Chinese market named Honor V30 & V30 Pro & they’re not only the flagships from the brand but also the latest 5G phones. Now, while both the phones have the same design & even similar specifications, there are a few key things that make the two different from one another.
The biggest difference comes in the form of the SOC. While the regular V30 has 7nm Kirin 990 SOC & the Balong 5000 5G Modem, the V30 Pro has the 7nm+ Kirin 990 5G SOC that has the integrated 5G modem. The camera setup is also slightly different.
HONOR V30 & V30 PRO – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
Both phones have the same design. In fact, even the size is not different despite the fact that one is a regular version while the other is a “Pro” version. On the rear, there is a rectangular camera module that houses triple cameras & the LED flash. This seems to be the new design trend as more and more companies are now going for such a design for the camera setup.
While there is no fingerprint scanner on the rear, that doesn’t mean it is present under the display on the front. It is there on the right side & also acts as the power button. On the front, we have a hole-punch display that has dual selfie cameras, hence a pill-shaped cutout. This cutout is placed on the top left.
Both the phones have premium build & design, but the Honor V30 Pro has Wireless Charging as well, something that the regular V30 lacks.
On the front, both the phones have a 6.57-inch LCD panel with Full-HD+ resolution. Under the hood, there is 7nm Kirin 990 in the case of Honor V30 whereas the V30 Pro has faster 7nm+ Kirin 990 5G SOC.
The difference? Well, the V30 has the Kirin 990 4G SOC, so there is a separate Balong 5000 Modem for 5G support. On the other hand, V30 Pro has Kirin 990 5G that has an integrated 5G modem. The regular V30 comes with 6/8GB RAM & 128GB storage whereas the V30 Pro with 8GB RAM & 128/256GB storage.
Talking about the batteries, the Honor V30 has a 4,200mAh battery whereas the V30 Pro has a 4,100mAh battery. As mentioned above, the Pro version also supports 27W Fast Wireless Charging apart from 40W Wired Charging that both the phones support.
Talking about the cameras, both Honor V30 & V30 Pro have triple rear cameras. There is a primary 40 Megapixel Sony IMX600 sensor with Optical Image Stabilization & while the aperture is f/1.8 in case of V30, the V30 Pro has the primary camera with f/1.6 aperture.
There is a secondary 8 Megapixel telephoto lens with OIS & 3X Optical Zoom. Finally, the V30 has an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture whereas the V30 Pro has a 12 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture that can shoot great wide-angle videos.
On the front, there are dual cameras that include a primary 32 Megapixel shooter & a secondary 8 Megapixel wide-angle lens with 105-degree FOV.
