Honor 90 is reportedly launching in India in September

Honor's first smartphone launch in India in three years!

Honor was a popular smartphone brand in the Indian market and launched some great phones. There was the Honor 6X, Honor 7X, Honor 8, Honor 8X, Honor Play, Honor View 20, etc. The last smartphones company launched in India were Honor 9A and Honor 9S, launched in July 2020. So, in the previous three years, Honor has not launched a single smartphone in the Indian market. But, the company is all set to return to India with the launch of Honor 90, a mid-range phone launched in China in May.

This information was shared by “Technical Guruji” on YouTube.

Honor 90 has two big circular camera modules on the rear and a triple camera setup. The fingerprint sensor is an optical one placed under the display. The phone does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack but surprisingly lacks a stereo speaker setup, something we expect on a mid-range device. The front looks premium, thanks to a Quad-curved display. As the name suggests, the display is curved not only on the left and right but also on the top and bottom.

The display is the highlight of this phone. It is a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution (2664×1200), 10-bit color depth, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 1600 nits peak brightness. The panel also has 3,840Hz UHF PWM dimming, making it the first smartphone to get the TÜV Rheinland’s “Flicker Free” certification.

This is a DXOMARK Gold-certified display which simply means best-in-class. Other phones with this certification include the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max,  Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Google Pixel 7 series, etc. So, most phones with this certification are high-end premium flagships, but the Honor 90 is a mid-range device.

Under the hood, Honor 90 has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This chip is built on Samsung’s 4nm process and was launched last year. This was the first Snapdragon 7 series SOC with a 200MP camera sensor support. Compared to the Snapdragon 778G SOC, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 offers 20% faster GPU and 30% better CPU.

Coming to cameras, Honor 90 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.4″ 200MP ISOCELL HP3 sensor from Samsung without any hardware stabilization. The secondary camera has a 12MP sensor with an ultrawide/macro lens. The third camera has a 2MP depth sensor. Finally, Honor 90 has a 50MP sensor for the selfie camera with 4K video recording and a 100-degree FOV lens.

The battery is 5,000mAh, and the phone supports 66W fast wired charging. The 66W adapter is offered in the box. Interestingly, even with such a big battery, the phone weighs around 183g and is just 7.8mm thick.

Android 13 runs out of the box with MagicOS 7.1 on top.

With these specifications, if the Honor 90 launches under 30K in the Indian market, it would be an excellent phone for those looking for the best display in this segment, a great selfie camera with 4K video recording, a premium-looking design, and solid performance.

The launch date is unknown, and Honor India has not announced anything officially.
