A month back, Honor launched the 8C, the first smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 632 processor. After a month, the Honor 8C is all set to launch in India, a market where the company is very popular for its value for money budget and mid-range devices. The Honor 8X was also announced in India last month which is a fantastic device for the price. Since the price of 8X starts from Rs 14,999, we are expecting the starting price to be around Rs 11-12K.
The Honor 8C doesn’t have a glass back like its bigger brother, the Honor 8X, but the phone has a unibody metal build that’s something we see on most of the phones at this price segment. There is a notch on the front which features the earpiece, the front camera, and the sensors. The phone has a big chin on the bottom that has the ‘Honor’ branding.
The dual cameras and the LED flash are arranged vertically on the rear, and the fingerprint scanner is also placed on the back. The ‘AI Camera’ branding clearly shows that the phone has features like AI Scene detection, Bokeh Mode etc. There is a micro USB port on the bottom.
Coming to the specs, the Honor 8C has a 6.26-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels and a pixel density of 269PPI. An HD+ display is a con as we see phones with Full-HD+ displays at this price. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, which is Qualcomm’s newest addition to the 600 series. It is a slightly improved version of the Snapdragon 630. The chipset has Kryo Cores and the Adreno 506 GPU.
The 8C has 4/6GB RAM and 32/64GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256GB via micro SD card. On the rear, the phone has a primary 13MP f/1.8 sensor and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. Features like AI Beauty, Aperture Mode, Pro Mode, Portrait Mode, HDR etc. are all there.
Honor 8C runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with EMUI 8.2 on top. There is a 4,000mAh battery that supports 5V/2A charging.
The phone launched in China a month back with a starting price of 1,099 Yuan or Rs 12,000. We are expecting the same or lesser price for the base variant in India. The launch will take place on November 29, and it is going to be an Amazon Exclusive phone.
