A few days back the company announced that the Honor 8 is not going to get the Android Oreo Update due to some hardware and software limitations. Anyways, the Honor 8 is going to get security patches and some new features in future updates, and a new update is being rolled out for the device that adds a couple of nice features in the phone.
Coming with the software version B389, the new update adds features like 3D Panorama mode, recycle bin, etc. The phone runs on EMUI 5.0 which is a custom Android skin based on Android Nougat. The 3D Panorama mode lets the user shoot 3D dynamic images. Previously, there were some methods to get this feature on the EMUI 5.0 via Root or flashing ROMs, but now, the official update for Honor 8 adds 3D Panorama mode to the official camera app.
Next feature that comes with this new update is the Recycle bin which lets you restore your Gallery contents in case you have deleted them from the gallery. Users can keep the deleted photos in the recycle bin for 30 days and can restore them anytime in that period. Also, there is a new ‘Honor Featured’ album added to the gallery where some great photos will be shared with the users.
Lastly, the new update adds a security feature to the Honor 8 due to which, the users have to enter their lock screen password every three days so that they can remember the password. There is also a split-screen key feature so that users can open two apps in split screen mode without leaving the full-screen mode.
