Google’s first foldable, ‘Pixel Notepad’, to cost around $1,399

It will feature the same Tensor chip as the Pixel 6 duo

It is not a secret anymore that Google is working on a foldable smartphone & earlier this month, some animations were found by 9To5Mobile in Android 12L Beta that showed a foldable phone. Moreover, it was also found that the foldable phone by Google is codenamed ‘Pipit’, and the same name was found in the code for those animations.

Previously, we were expecting this foldable phone to be simply called the Pixel Fold because that’s the first name anyone can think of for a foldable phone by Google. But again, 9To5Mobile reported that they got some reports of the name to be Google Pixel Notepad.

Now, 9To5Mobile has shared the target price for the Google Pixel Notepad.

So, as per the source, Google will launch the foldable phone for a price of around $1,399, which pretty much means that it is going to be a cheaper foldable phone than the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is priced at $1,799. Moreover, it is said that in terms of dimensions, the Pixel Notepad is going to look more like the Oppo Find N because it is compact and wide instead of tall and narrow.

As for the specs, we do know that it will be powered by the Google Tensor chip just like the Pixel 6 duo, but the camera setup is not entirely the same. There is a main 12.2MP Sony IMX363 sensor on the rear, paired with a 12MP IMX386 sensor for ultrawide shots. For comparison, the Pixel 6 duo has a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor for the primary shooter. The reason to use an older sensor on the foldable phone could be the sensor size because, as we know, the GN1 sensor by Samsung is a large  1/1.3 sensor, whereas IMX363 is a 1/2.55″ sensor.

There is no telephoto lens on the Google Pixel Notepad, so the phone only has two cameras on the back. As for the selfie cameras, both the inner and outer displays have an 8MP selfie shooter. It is the Sony IMX355, so there won’t be any difference in the selfies taken on either screen.

Well, we do not know when the Pixel Notepad is set to go official, so we have to wait for some more details. Stay tuned.
