Google Pixel 9a first look is here with no camera bar

The sides have gone flat too!

The Google Pixel 9 series was launched earlier this month with the Tensor G4 chipset and an all-new design. While we have just started getting reviews of both phones, the images of the Google Pixel 9a are already making the rounds on the internet.

Note that Google launches the budget Pixel phone at the I/O event every year, which means the Pixel 9a won’t launch until May next year. So, while we still have almost nine months left for the launch, the images of the phone are already here.

The images above are from a private Facebook group and they show the prototype Google Pixel 9a. As we can see, the Google Pixel 9a doesn’t have a rounded frame anymore. This is a design change we saw in the Google Pixel 9 series. There is a flat display on the front with seemingly symmetrical bezels, though not as slim as the premium Pixel 9 devices. The frame is made of metal, as evident from the antenna lines.

On the back, there is no longer a camera bar, which was once the identity of Google Pixel phones. The Pixel 9a doesn’t have a significant camera bump at all. The dual camera setup sits flush (almost) with the back. For comparison, the Google Pixel 8a featured a camera bar that spanned the entire width of the device on the back.

As per the user who shared these pictures on Twitter, the phone is already in mass production, so this is most likely the final design of the Google Pixel 9a.

Well, we do not have any information on the specifications yet, but we won’t be surprised to know that the phone is powered by the Tensor G4 chipset.
