In our previous article, we discussed the Google Pixel 8. In this one, let’s talk about the Pixel 8 Pro, the most premium flagship by Google. Speaking of the price, the Google Pixel 8 Pro starts at $999 / €1,099 / ₹1,06,999, compared to the Google Pixel 7 Pro’s starting price of $899 / €899 / ₹84,999. So, this year, there is a significant increase in the price, especially for the Indian market.

This year, the Pixel 8 Pro feels even more different than the vanilla Pixel, which hasn’t happened in previous years. This year, some software features are exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro, even though the Pixel 8 has the same chipset.

Design-wise, the Pixel 8 Pro looks similar to the Pixel 8, with the only difference being the size & the extra rear camera. There is no longer a curved display on the Pro, as the phone has a flat panel, matching the Pixel 8.

The build materials are different on the Pixel 8 Pro. While the Pixel 8 has Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back, the Pixel 8 Pro uses a more durable Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides. The Pro has a polished aluminum frame, compared to a matte aluminum frame on the Pixel 8. The back has a matte finish on the Pixel 8 Pro, but it is glossy on the Pixel 8.

The display is better on the Pro – a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED with a 1344 x 2992 pixels resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, 1600 nits HDR brightness, and 2400 nits peak brightness. The battery & charging are also better for the Pro model – a 5050mAh battery with 30W wired and 23W wireless charging.

Speaking of cameras, Google Pixel 8 Pro gets a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera is the same as the Pixel 8 – a 1/1.31″ 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor with OIS, f/1.68 aperture lens, and a 1.2 μm pixel size. The ultrawide camera is different. Instead of a 12MP sensor, Pixel 8 Pro has a 48MP sensor with a 0.8 μm pixel size and 125.5° field of view. The third camera is a periscope telephoto camera with a 48MP sensor, OIS, an f/.2.8 aperture lens, and 5x Optical Zoom.

The Pixel 8 Pro has an upgraded Multi-zone LDAF (laser detect autofocus) sensor, compared to the Pixel 8’s Single-zone LDAF sensor.

For selfies, there is a 10.5MP sensor with a 1.22 μm pixel size and f/2.2 aperture lens. While the Google Pixel 8 has fixed focus for the selfie camera, the Pixel 8 Pro gets autofocus.

The phone also has a thermometer sensor on the rear.

The rear and selfie cameras have 4K 60fps video recording support.

The only feature that is the same in the Google Pixel 8 Pro is the Tensor G3 SOC and Android 14. The phone will get Android OS & security updates for the next seven years, like the Pixel 8.

The phone has 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Finally, let’s talk about the exclusive features of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. The phone gets “Pro controls” in the camera app, “50MP” photo mode, Night Sight Video, and Video Boost.

The price starts at $999 / €1,099 / ₹1,06,999.
